O.K. first apartment
Pros
The stairwells were consistently cleaned. The location is great. And, if you have an apartment on the second floor or above, the backyard-facing balconies are quite spacious.
Cons
I had to buy a new phone plan in order to be able to use the washer/dryer in the basement. The thick cinder block walls would not allow me to have reception or use Bluetooth (as required by the machines.) There was no public or building WiFi to connect to either. The landlords weren't particularly responsive. We had lots of plumbing issues that took countless maintenance requests and follow-ups to get resolved. The repair men that they outsource to made me and my roommate (two twenty-something year old women) feel extremely uncomfortable. He once stayed in our apartment for over 5 hours, sprawled out on the couch, taking personal phone calls. He made comments on my appearance and I felt unsafe seeing him around my building.
Advice to the owners
Get public/building WiFi for the basement so everyone can use the washing machine and dryer.
Could be worse
Pros
During Covid the owners were kind about being late on rent when I lost my job.
Cons
Overall built poorly (typical new bushwick building), owners weren’t great when it came to overall safety or timeliness with concerns. It took a long time to get things fixed and oftentimes they weren’t fixed well.
Advice to the owners
Having better managements systems in place
