Pros
Large backyard, convenient location.j
Cons
Everything in the building is extremely cheap and on the verge of falling apart. There are holes in the floor, pieces of metal peeling off of heating grates, holes in the brick at the exterior of the building which allow rats and roaches easy access to our kitchen, tiles falling off the walls in the bathroom, graffiti in hallways, and something that looks like fire damage in the hallway outside our door which, rather than being repaired, was simply painted over. The common areas of the building have a persistent bad smell, and are rarely cleaned. Management is somewhat responsive to repair requests, but all of their "fixes" are done extremely poorly and haphazardly. Months ago, we requested that someone fix bathroom tiles that had fallen off of the wall, revealing previously unseen mold. The repair person sent by management glued the tiles back on to the wall using superglue, which was not wiped off properly and is now stuck to the surrounding tiles. During previous tile repairs, caulk was spilled all over our shampoo and conditioner and left to dry. No mold testing was ever done. I could go on with more things that contribute to how disgusting this building is, but you get the point. Oh, and the buildings fire escape is not connected to the ground outside as the ladder fell off and was never repaired.
Fuck this place
Pros
The apartment is big for New York. The park across the street is nice.
Cons
My bedroom had literally no heat all of winter and no one even tried to fix it. It took over a month to get the super to come look at it. And then he told me I just need to take my AC unit out of the window to prevent draft. Which of course did not solve the issue because the problem was that the radiator wasn’t working.
Advice to the owners
You should consider actually maintaining the building instead of waiting for it to fall apart completely so then you can cover it up pretty and overcharge for the same lack of care.
