Quiet neighborhood but can't flush toilet paper
Pros
Neighborhood is amazingly quiet, good sunlight at top of the little hill. Apartment was decently clean and all appliances worked.
Cons
The toilet could not handle toilet paper. I had to put my used toilet paper in a bin for a year, just like I did when I lived in rural South America. Had exactly one mouse, and super came and set traps. Regularly had small roaches come through the kitchen sink. One freezing winter, the heat would be completely off from 11pm to 5am. After paying a broker's fee to get in (I was dumb), after one year they raised my rent 17% and I had to move.
Advice to the owners
Get real toilets. Don't gouge people. There's a reason you haven't been able to raise rents in the last decade.
Low quality management company and Super
Pros
Location and decent room size
Cons
The most rude Super you can find, neither the super or management company ever pick up the phone and they can tell you a time they will come by the apartment at 11 am, but forget any plan you have that day because they will just end up coming at 10 pm or not at all and you will go back and forth for days. There’s no proper heat in the building either. Your packages will also get stolen often, most likely by someone in the building, because they are just so kind to open them and a few days later put the empty box in the lobby. Management will not do anything about it and there are 0 cameras. This is the only building in the whole block that you can really tell that the management company does not care at all.
Advice to the owners
Replace the Super and Big City management company
