Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews of buildings managed by David Leiter show a mixed experience with notable variability between properties. Some buildings have well-maintained common areas, reliable heating, and attentive staff, with quick responses to maintenance requests. However, several reviews highlight concerns such as poor landlord responsiveness, pest infestations around the buildings, high noise levels, and slow or disorganized management practices. Rent increases without corresponding improvements have also been mentioned as a significant issue by some tenants. Overall, while certain locations offer a pleasant living environment with decent upkeep, prospective renters should be mindful of inconsistencies in management responsiveness and maintenance quality across these properties.

Worst landlord for luxury building in Brooklyn

Pros

Building management was excellent and staff was great . This is a condo owned building so we rented directly from the owner.

Cons

Rat infestation outside, dated interior

Advice to the owners

Be a respectful human being and responsible landlord. Your number one concern is cost, not the safety of your tenants.

Nice building, thin walls

Pros

The building is on a quiet, pretty block. Maintenance is consistent and reliable, and the landscaping is kept neat. In the 2 years I've lived here, the few maintenance issues I've had were fixed promptly (upstairs neighbor's clogged shower leaked into my bathroom).

Cons

The walls are thin. It's easy to hear my upstairs neighbor's dog running around or scratching at its kennel, and in the bathroom I can hear my next door neighbor's conversations or music through the wall. There was some work on the building that seems to have been done well, refacing the facade and redoing balconies, but it took a very very long time, and the scaffolding sat for weeks or even months at a time, seemingly unused. It seems to be mostly done now, though.

Advice to the owners

Use contractors who will get jobs done quickly, when needed.
