Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for Joel Rubin's buildings reveals a mixed experience. While some praise the responsive management, cleanliness, security, and convenient locations with valued amenities like roof access and laundry facilities, there are significant complaints. Recurring issues include poor pest control (especially bedbugs and roaches), inadequate sound insulation, and noisy neighbors. Many mention slow or dismissive responses from management regarding repairs, heating problems, and cleanliness in common areas. Some renters also note concerns with building maintenance shortcuts and occasional rent increases. Prospective tenants should expect attentive landlord communication in some properties but be prepared for challenges with building upkeep and noise.

Good apt - Bushwick

Pros

Nice location, laundry in building

Cons

mice and loud neighbors

Former tenant·9 months ago

Bedbugs & unresponsive management slow to remedy issues

Pros

Roof access, high ceilings. Pretty good/even light in three bedrooms (big windows and deep window sills), especially around sunset. Sound bleed between apartments is not bad. Very convenient to Dekalb L -- so close. Lots to do and eat nearby.

Cons

Very little sound proofing between rooms (you can hear most things going on in all rooms of the apartment at all times). The stairs to the laundry in the basement are usually pretty dirty. We had a bedbug infestation and also had issues with roaches. Laundry machines often break. Overall, management is only responsive if you repeatedly call and email them to demand repair. Not helpful.
