Luxury Slum Living - DO NOT LIVE AT THE ARCHES
Pros
Cute spaces - but they’re falling down. Gorgeous rooftop but grills are off limits and it’s open for 3 weeks of the summer before they shut it again.
Cons
24/7 super doesn’t work 24/7. Or even seemingly one hour a week. Requests left unread for days and repairs take weeks. A neighbor had sewage back up her sink and all over her apartment on a Thursday - they told her it could wait for Monday and then ignored her while a flood of sewage filled her unit. Air/heat doesn’t work and building is blasting cold air in the hallways in dead of winter so you have to pay extra for your electric heat to make up for it. Breakers trip with nothing plugged into them. In unit laundry closet smells of sewer. Building is just over 3 years old (2 maybe?) and still stuff is unfinished and now everything is breaking down. Elevators (all 4) break all the time and are “repaired” by the super rather than a licensed elevator mechanic. Cockroach infestations left untreated for months. Cars get broken into every night. Dirty/smelly hallways. Moldy laundry rooms.
Advice to the owners
Stop building new slums
This building is NOT safe to live in
Pros
The doormen are always helpful and the people living in the building are typically nice. Prior to raw sewage flooding my apartment, I really liked my apartment’s layout.
Cons
I had raw sewage pour out of my kitchen sink and it flooded my entire apartment, with no response from management. I had to hire an emergency plumber on my own at 1am abd pay them $4,800 to stop the leak and vacuum the water out of my apartment. The flooding was so bad that my floors could’ve collapsed if I didn’t find help.
Advice to the owners
Actually respond during emergency, especially where raw sewage and flooding are involved
