Nightmare landlord puts tenants in danger
Pros
Nice location and wonderful neighborhood
Cons
Building is literally crumbling and service workers refuse to do repairs bc the building is so dangerously out of code. I had a severe mold illness problem due to water constantly flooding and leaking through the walls. There's a makeshift balcony situation that has an AC unit pooling water on top of the unit's ceiling. Landlord made me go without AC replacement during the entire summer. He stalled on replacing the broken washer/dryer for 7 months until I threatened to withhold rent. Then he did an extremely scary DIY installation with the gas dryer (breaking off the valve). He stole my security deposit and overcharged for literally everything. He is happy to put all tenants in danger. Do not rent here
Advice to the owners
Sell the unit to someone willing to take care of tenants
This plce makes you traumatized
Pros
Nice location Only 8 apartments in a building
Cons
The building leaks whenever it’s raining and lanlord won’t fix it. He tells you to put some treys under it until leakage stops. Then he will send maintenance guy to put the treys “in the ceiling”, then close it and painting over it. He doesn’t want to pay contractors to come and fix it properly. All PTAC units will leak when it’s raining and the solution is treys under each unit. So you will have bunch of treys all over you apartment to cover the leakages. Water pressure is awful and will take 10-12 min to get the hot water running Room temperature is 85-90 degree at summer time and 69-70 in winter time cause Heat/Ac units don’t work properly and lanlord won’t change the devices It happened couple of times that I didn’t have hot water for over 3 days but lanlord didn’t answer his phone/txt cause it was weekend or holiday. Then he lectured me about the US holidays that people won’t work!!!! Last one- this place it’s not rent stabilized ( I don’t know how it’s possible) so he raised the rent by 40%
Advice to the owners
Be more responsible to fix the issues.
