Tried to illegally force us out
Pros
This used to be a building owned by a small, local landlord who owned a couple buildings in the neighborhood and lived in one of them. He was a wonderful guy and was not looking to get rich off his tenants, simply live a comfortable life with his family in the area.
Cons
Unfortunately, the original owner was forced to sell the building to people who turned out to be evil, and I don't use that word lightly. They tried to illegally force all the current tenants out through intimidation, harassment, and ignored all requests to repair hazardous conditions in the building, leaving us terrified that they would escalate things even further and shut off utilities or something like that. We agreed to leave well before the date they were (illegally) threatening that we had to be out by, and they STILL took us to court!! You can look them up, 787 Meeker Avenue LLC. To this day, they haven't even done anything with the property. Why did they even go to the trouble of trying to force everyone out and ruin everyone's lives who lived in the building (and almost everyone had been there for 10 years, many of them longer)? Hezi Torati is the person behind the shady LLC and he has tons of other ones. The man who did all his dirty work was Harry Horowitz. Shame on them.
Advice to the owners
Stop taking wrongful legal action against innocent people and stop trying to force them out of their homes
must love walking
Pros
Gut renovated, original hardwood floors, closet in each room, storage space in basement, high ceilings, stainless appliances
Cons
Unresponsive landlord (5+ months without functional advertised laundry), no trash removal for 2+ months, water damage, leaking radiators, strange wiring (2 units on one electric meter), no carbon monoxide detectors, not clean when moved in, suspected rats in basement, exposed lead in units around intercom boxes, no self-locking front door, common spaces only got cleaned ahead of showings to prospective tenants, inconsistent at best trash removal (2 weeks to 3+ months of buildup), 17+ minute walk to subways/concentrated Greenpoint amenities
Advice to the owners
Please make sure future properties are up to code, hire building cleaners and trash removal
