Ok apartment for a year
Pros
Great bushwick central location and close to train
Cons
The alliances are trash, the bathtub couldn’t even fill up because the hot water couldn’t run long enough or hot enough to fill it. It’s very cute looking but not built for functionality. We also didn’t get our full security deposit back even though we spackled and painted the walls and cleaned. Brokers would also randomly show the apt when they didn’t have permission —- as we were moving out the barged in with a group of people, unannounced, and insisted on showing the apartment
Advice to the owners
Lower the rent for this type of trash renovation where everything falls apart. And give people their security deposits back!!
Do not recommend
Pros
They had built-in Bluetooth speakers. Frankly the cons outweigh that singular pro.
Cons
Dirty hallways, difficult/intrusive landlords, no responsiveness
Advice to the owners
There were holes in the ceiling and we reached out to have them fixed numerous times a month for over a year- these holes were never fixed. Cracks formed in the walls, and the front door was broken- these also were never fixed. Fast forward to when we were attempting to get our deposit back- they wanted to charge us for all of the damages listed above (not damages, just a poorly constructed apartment). We had to threaten litigation in order for them to concede and relinquish our money. Another thing that should raise a red flag for prospective tenants: I was in the apartment and heard a knock on the door. I did not answer as I wasn’t expecting anybody and my roommates had said that it wasn’t them. The knocking increased and eventually became banging. I still did not answer, but I heard the person banging saying that they were the landlord and that they wanted to show someone our apartment because it was the same as an apartment that they didn’t have a key for. That landlord then proceeded to unlock our door and walk in with a complete stranger- thinking that no one was home. Long story short, these landlords have no respect for their duties as landlords or for their tenants’ privacy and wellbeing.
