best of the worst
Pros
everyone in the building is super nice, roof access, sweet area
Cons
when something breaks landlord comes to fix it whenever he has time and mostly just puts glue on things. no improvements to property ever
Owner/Landlord is a Schiester
Pros
Convenient location to M line, grocery stores, bars, restaurants.
Cons
Dirty, smells like cat litter box sometimes, owner does second-rate work on repairs, owner complains about having to make repairs, owner threatens to take over apartment and move in, owner blames things that need repaired on tenants, things have to be repaired several times because owner doesn’t do it right, building roof leaks, walls in hallway have been torn open and left exposed for months at a time, messes not cleaned up after exposed walls opened, owner doesn’t get proper permits to do work, owner overcharges rent on almost every unit in the building, which has screwed up the rent stabilization system in at least two of the units (overcharged more than six years ago and now rent is $1500 too much), owner lies and pretends like he’s naive about stabilization, owner doesn’t report to government agency rent increases, building has a history of high percentage of complaints to housing authorities, owner has made several sexist and racist remarks
Advice to the owners
Sell the building to someone that wants to properly maintain it.
