Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews highlight mixed experiences in buildings managed by Michael Ricatto. While some appreciate the cleanliness and responsive management for certain issues, others express concerns about ongoing pest problems, slow responses, safety issues like ceiling collapses, and lack of essential maintenance. Tenants have faced challenges with pests, broken facilities, unaddressed complaints, and unexpected rent hikes. Despite positive aspects like good locations and neighborhood charm, improvements in communication, maintenance, and overall building safety are recommended to enhance tenant satisfaction and living conditions.

This building is literally falling apart

Pros

Like my apt layout, hallways were cleaned weekly, super major problems were fixed by management if you bug them.

Cons

Had cockroaches, took over a month of emails to get management to send over professional pest control and not just some guy. 6 months later, they've come back because they were in the ceiling and there's a crack where they drop onto my bed. Most emails never get responded to. Walls are super super thin. Front door breaks every few months to lock you in the building. A neighbors ceiling literally collapsed and wasn't fixed for a few days. My shower was apparently flooding the downstairs apartment and management told them it was because we hadn't been using a shower curtain, which was clearly false. One of my walls "sheds" from water damage and I don't even care about fixing that because it's by far not the worst problem.

Advice to the owners

Your monthly exterminators should actually spray the apartments instead of walking in and out. Fix problems instead of lying about them.

Decent but not great building

Pros

Good location Not terribly expensive Good amount of space for the price Charming older building with exposed brick Management is relatively quick to respond

Cons

No central heat or ac Heat often goes out in the winter due to a faulty boiler. They are pretty quick to fix it but with the frequency that it happens it is definitely a factor Had minor issues with cockroaches and mice.
